I’m Owen, it’s nice to meet you.

I work as a reporter for APN’s flagship Sunshine Coast Daily in stunning South-East Queensland, writing general news while specialising in business and property issues.

I have also created the ‘Boom Crash Owen’ music column that will be published weekly in ‘The Guide’ — a new entertainment liftout inserted into The Daily.

Before moving to a liveable climate, I worked my cadetship at Mackay’s Daily Mercury, where I worked as the editor of the newspaper’s Business Weekly, developed the mining/resources rounds from scratch and sharpened my teeth on the council beat, all while learning my craft as a general news journo.

As part of my role with the Daily Mercury, I wrote a weekly column in the Mercury, ‘The Juice’; a monthly column in APN’s mens magazine Crave, ‘Single White Male’.

This work led me to be nominated as a finalist in the 2009 APN Journalist of the Year Awards.

Since then, I have honed my business writing skills by writing for national B2B mining publication Mining Monthly
